If your going to stick to the FAQ thing, I would concentrate on maintenance, problems and quirks of vehicles just as much as mods.  That is something I have yet to see on an online forum.  Every vehicle no matter what brand, model etc has easy fixes, known issues etc...  Since we are headed into some times that require us (as people) to be a bit more efficient, people want to get more out of their dollar.  I think this could prove to be an invaluable source of info to car owners.  There are an infinite number of sites/forums for enthusiests, what if we also cater to people that want to keep what they have in tip-top condition/shape?  It might take some research/recon checking out all sorts of online forums and reaching out to mods of other sites to help get this going but I think you guys are on to something.  Every good forum has a good faq section, what if we try to compile all that information into one place?  Sometimes they don't even stickey that info and it just gets lost.

I'm just thinking out loud at this point... what do you guys think?

Turbo, excellent thoughts. I'll get on it this evening.

I like that, I'm always on sites looking for negative reviews of cars, tires, hotels, you name it, I'm looking for what people have negative to say about it, so I think a review area or at least emphasis in some area would definitely bring in traffic

Many sites have some affiliation with either the manufacturer or parts suppliers associated with a brand. It was almost taboo to say anything negative or imply there might be a problem....

no real biggie.

The color/bold/dark differential between read and unread is pretty subtle - maybe just me.

also the within the thread the individual posts kinda seem to run as one long post, hard to tell which post or where the post ends... does this make sense?  I see there is a slight color change but maybe a thicker boarder on the top of each different post?Huh? sorry, again no biggie just postin

I believe this can be addressed by changing the theme. I've reviewed quite a few and we may change to a more 'blatant' color scheme shortly.

is there a way we can kick up the size of the quotes a little.  I'm young, but my eyes are horrible.  I can only imagine I won't be the only one having trouble seeing them.  just a thought

I was thinking the same thing earlier. That might be directly tied to the theme set up.

Oztiks,

Can this be changed within a theme? Or would that entail a customization of that theme?

My advice is to be prepared to upgrade to a pay software solution within a year or so.  Other sites I've known in the past to use SMF have ultimately need to ugprade in time as the site grows, its more than SMF can efficiently handle, Mighy Titans went through similar growing pains.

One of the downsides of making a successful site. Smiley

Hopefully we'll be in it for the long haul with SMF. All other major software (paid and non-paid) was considered before the SMF choice was made. Not to say we won't ever change, but it should be good and the flexibility is great. SMF 2.X is on its way, and I think will address most of the existing SMF "issues".. Smiley
