I think for what it was become, its a nice vehicle.  But its not a viable replacement for the jeep now.  Its gone down the crossover path and that's probably a smart move.  I think he compared it to a traverse, I think it looks like the gmc version: acadia.  I thought ford had this sehment covered with a similar vehicle with 3 rows and four doors but maybe they axed that model.  I like the look, I've been considering something larger with more utility that doesn't have to have the offroad component when my car needs to be replaced, so this fits that bill with likely better fuel economy than I get currently in a car.

I absolutely loved the electronics.  I have heard about the color coded gadgets last year, and I thought this was going to be for the 2011/2012.  I'm surprised it's available so soon.  Very slick graphic animations, plus MS voice control, usb, sd card, phone control, everything integrated.   A little busy screen, they should be using a 9" IMHO, but I think it's impressive.

Didn't like the exterior, but then again, if you compare to a contraption like the Honda Pilot, it looks good!

RH, I figured you would like the looks of this new Explorer.  As soon as I seen it I thought Toyota.
The front reminds me of a Toyota and the roof line does.  Overall it looks like a pretty impressive
vehicle and priced right also.  Ford has been making a comeback lately.  And Bran, your right this
would make a nice replacement vehicle and probably get even better gas mileage.  If everything
goes as plans, I'm going to look at this and if I like it, I'm going to trade the Civic and Ranger for one.   Cool

still not letting go of the escort huh?  Smiley

Yeah its not bad at all.  If its the same size as the Jeep I probably need something a little bigger, but its three rows, so it has GOT to be bigger than what we have.  That slope of the back glass really cuts into cargo carrying ability though.

I can't let the Escort go yet, it's a long story.  And another thing is weird, its the only car I've
never got tired of.   laugh

I think the Explorer will be quit larger than the Jeep.  I looked at the new Jeep and it did not
seem to be any bigger than the one you have, or previous one.  The Explorer is 197 inches
long so that would make it pretty good size.  Not sure about the width though.  I'm really
wanting to see one though.   Cheesy

I agree, the price is amazing, specially considering all the advanced gizmos and luxuries inside.  I don't agree much about the front and the Toyota, I don't like the grille much, I think the front end overall reminds me of the Acadia type of cars, but the rest, specially the rear end, sides, I liked it.

wow yeah a Tahoe is only 202" so its grown.  However, with the rake of the back, the outside is larger than the inside.  The Trail/Blazer doesn't exist anymore, so I guess the comparable Chevy IS the Traverse (which happens to be 3" longer than the Tahoe).  Nice to see that Jeep is sticking to its roots rather than making turning the Grand Cherokee into a 4dr Minivan.

I can't stand the look of the Trailblazers anymore.  I didn't know the Traverse was that big.
Good thing for me I can use A or Z plan and get a good discount on a new Ford.   laugh

So my Sequoia at 205" is just right?   Grin

My point was the trailblazer and tahoe used to fill two different vehicle segments; mid-size & large SUV.  Now it seems to have all blurred into the same large segment with the equinox growing a little to pick up where the trailblazer left off.
