Top Gear 720p M5 vs XFR
« on: June 07, 2010, 10:34:50 PM »

Not the XF S/C (which is 1/2 a bottle of NOS away from an XFR), but interesting none the less.  Great kudos to the suspension here:

One of the videos I saw before I bought the XF-S. Definitely influenced my decision. I was very very close to getting an (used) XF-R in that color but opted not to.

If I knew there was an XF SC with 470HP out there I would have recommended that in the other thread, no question.  Big surprise for me, this car.

Decent video, wish i could understand what he's saying. I am 99% sure he's complaining about the info-tainment system and at the very end is complaining about the fact that the trunk is actually really really stupid to close (you have to SLAM it)

I know a wee bit of German.  He said of the menu driven system, that it does not have a knob or shortcut buttons to access important stuff, from I understand he was scared of losing the nav direction pressing on the screen, actually a second step is required for that to work (?) and then you can reach the fuel mileage numbers (He's too fast for me, but I believe that's was what he was first trying to get to talk about and got distracted).  Overall, he said, that (system) is botched-up ("das ist Murks").  And the trunk should have an electric/magnetic closing mechanism, for the price 90K Euros (like on the FX, I think).  Otherwise your hands will get dirty from having to force it down to close it.  But it was a positive review otherwise. The car feels smaller that it is, pretty composed on the back road, absorbing bumps, and fast on the Autobahn.  Focus is like Newsweek, though, pretty sh*t overall.
