F430 bye, hello F458
« on: August 30, 2009, 08:12:32 PM »

Here's the new gal in 2010.
I'm on the fence on this.  After my experience with the California I can say that LIVE these things look a hell of a lot better than any picture does justice.  Then again, this thing just looks. . . well, evil is perhaps the right word.  And the rear looks a bit too beefy in the curves.  I'm going to reserve judgement on this for a bit and think about more.

The rear is a little questionable...  but the car looks decent overall, I think.

+1   What he said...

I like this much better!  I'm also digging the F40 triple central tips.  Much better than the ISF flared quads that seem so popular these days...  even the ABT R8 has em...  What is it about the IS that makes EVERYONE want to copy it?  Don't get me wrong, its a great car but look what happened to the tail lights, now the tips!?

Heh, I'm working on getting my name at the top of the list!  MUWHAHAHA
Oh, and I think I've decided that I love it.  The thing is just so EVIL looking though with those strange headlights.  The profile is amazing though and I like this new lower front of theirs.  Especially love they brought back the chrome prancing horse on the bottom.  Oh and the speed?  Yikes.  It's lighter and has 550+ horses with equivalent torque.  Eee gods this thing is going to rip.  Interior looks good too.  Love that cockpit with the dials/vents angle.  Anyways, with Ferrari selling all/most of their dealers I'm seeing if I can't do a little razzle dazzle here.  Wish me luck Smiley

Another Good luck!

This thing is going to be awesome, and I have to request I get first dibs on a photoshoot when you get it! Wink  I'm really liking this thing now that I look at it for the 2nd time.  In the top view the front is looking like the new gallardo but apart from that...  I really like it... I think I would remove the yellow emblem on the front too.  Keep it clean with the chrome horse you mentioned up front and thats it.

Not yours... on the "altezza" a la IS200 taillights that have taken the nation by storm and for some ODD reason, have ended up on a high end GM SUV from the FACTORY!?  Which not only went from projector BACK to reflector headlights, but also now has a nice set of APC-esque taillights...  To me  the old Denali was an upgrade of the tahoe, the new one seems like a downgrade from the Escalade.  Ok random rant done... Wink

Back to how sinister and sexy this thing is...  Grin

I agree with you on the GMC argument... not sure what they were thinking.

Couple of more shots.  My Ferrari guys tell me 580 horsepower with 540 torque and a weight of 1380.  It will have all LED lights and a lot of em.  It has dual clutch design with some sort of dry thing that can engage a third clutch (wtf?!?!) in full race mode.  Launch control of course.  0-60 times in the 3.2-3.3 range and a top speed of 210.  It will be 30% FASTER out of corners then the F430 (I find this hard to believe)  The air scoop next to the headlight is very functional and cools both the oil and provides downforce.  The vented air next to the headlight towards the middle (evil) also cools the engine through a direct pass through.  This is a nasty nasty animal. . . uh still working on getting on first.  My guy is heading off to Italy to see his family but we are having dinner when he returns.

Funny you should mention the scoops on the wheel arches.  I totally missed them and I was looking at the first set wondering where the scoops for the front down force were.  They did go a bit crazy with the LEDs, I guess they figure someone driving a Ferrari wants to be seen? Wink  The trans is going to be NUTTY.  I also believe the extra speed figures, it seems that weight and downforce were the big concern in this new release and with a faster/better diff/traction control this thing is going to be like racing a video game (according to Clarkson in the 599).  Since this is a new from the ground up car instead of the 430 being being built on the same chassis as the 360, it should be a much bigger jump in overall performance.  It even has the best milage "in its classs".  Wink  Also, the 1,380kg (3,036lbs) is dry weight so its probably going to end up just under the F430 at 1,450 (3197lbs).  It does have better balance due to the first ever mid-mounted engine ending with a 53% over the back wheels instead of the 430s 57%.  I can't wait to see this baby on top gear, or better yet in Trin's garage! Wink
