It's race day!
« on: October 23, 2009, 09:59:49 PM »

OK, so Ferrari and some Porsche club decided to rent out Sears Point and have a track day.  My Ferrari guy told me to bring my 550 up and have fun.  Well, I love the 550 but no way I'm not bringing the new one so off I went.  Then I got blackballed.  My favorite part of the day was when the organizer walked in and hollers into the drivers room "OK Who brought the Audi?!?!" (I raise my hand sheepishly) He laughs and says "nice car".  Later he traded my R8 for a few laps (he took it super easy because it was new and breaking in) and I took his F430 Scuderia.  Nice car that Scuderia.  What was interesting was that even though some of these guys were "advanced" drivers, almost none of them could heel toe and almost all of them braked too early and used too much gear movement to slow them down.  Also, me and two others were the only ones to take traction and stability off and were willing to let it loose around some corners.  I actually had a nice drift going on turn 6.  Passed quite a few of them.  Here's some shots.

Super cool!  Kudos on the heel toe thing, it's great to get it right.  Also it takes basll to turn off all the nannies on those beauties and still go fast (while braking in!), so double kudos for you man.  It's like leaning on your knees and scrape the pegs on a bike, once you got the hang of it, you want to do it all the time just for the giggles.  Do you dare to left foot braking?  I can't get any time out of it, but it can be fun as hell.

Lotus and miata weren't racing. Yeah I left foot brake on the track!!!  Right foot and knee is so busy clicking back and forth I don't have time to brake with the right foot.  Besides, if you want to break it loose you need to have that left foot braking.  Uh NO on the motorcycle thing.  I've owned 4 racer style bikes and I never could do that.  Always felt like I was asking for surgery.
